Science is a key aspect in about everything we do today. It is so important for everyone to understand science in today’s world because our world revolves around it. One of these key things is electricity. Without electricity people in today’s world would be lost. This allows us to use things such as phones, TVs, refrigerators, and cars. Without having these things most people in our world would be lost.
Science can be taught and explained in many ways. Some of these ways are things such as museums, games, YouTube videos, and national parks. It is good that it can be explained in such a variety of ways because it allows the information to be put into better terms for the people there or watching it. For example, museums help you understand history and can be very factual which can come off interesting to some people but also boring to others. On the other hand, things such as games and YouTube videos allow kids to get a better understanding of science in easier ways(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf8V7cF8t48).National parks allow people to actually go out and experience some of these scientific things on a first-hand basis (https://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm).
My game was called “Fix Archie” and it was a matching/puzzle game. To start the players had an empty game board with six questions on it and also six cards with answers on one side and a picture on the other. The goal of the game was to answer the questions correct then flip the card over to create a picture of Archie when all pieces were in place. I feel like I had a perfect concept for the game and it worked very well. There were a few things that I could fix though like instead of hand writing the title, questions, and answers they should have been typed. Also, I could have made the directions a little clearer. Other than these minor things I feel like my game was a success.
Good job on explaining how science revolves around us and providing different examples of how to receive reliable information such as YouTube, museums, and national parks. Also, great job on providing details in your self evaluation.
ReplyDeleteTodd, I thought your game was too cute! Great job. I like your examples of ways science can be presented to people and it's importance...awesome.
ReplyDeleteI thought that your project was really creative! I liked how you explained how science can be explained in different ways to help other people understand it.
ReplyDeleteTodd, this is good in terms of content, but please upload one or two photos of your Archie project. The one you did upload is not showing up properly. Also, where you mention things like YouTube videos, National Parks, etc. Insert a link so that when the reader clicks on say National Parks, it takes them to the general National Parks page (https://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm), or a specific example of one. The same thing with the YouTube videos. Find a specific one you think is a good representation of an adequate and reliable video bringing science to the public, and insert a link to that. Not just listing the URL, but actually using the Insert> Link tool, so that it's highlighted and takes you directly to that page.
ReplyDeleteNational parks are awesome and I never really thought to take them into consideration with hands on engagement for science!
